Public Safety and Emergency Notifications are sent right to your phone.

Anyone can receive free text message or email alerts from the Seaside Police Department through an online alert messaging service called Nixel.  Messages are targeted to your specific geographic area based on zip code. The Seaside Police Department issues four classifications of messages:

  • Alerts: Natural Disasters, missing person reports, gas leaks and fires.
  • Advisories: Non-emergencies such as power outages.
  • Community: Local information for events such as Hood to Coast, Beach Volleyball Tournament and National Night Out.
  • Traffic: Heavy traffic and road conditions, flooding, lane closures, traffic accidents.
  • Sign up for free by texting your zip code to 888777.  The zip code in Seaside is 97138.
  • Individuals can also sign up for email alerts. Email alerts are expanded versions of the text messages and be signed up for via this link and clicking the "SignUp" button at the top of the page.

In partnership with thousands of public safety agencies, Everbridge offers the most trusted information available at a neighborhood level to keep residents informed - all delivered directly to your mobile device. ClatsopALERTS!, Clatsop County's emergency notification system, is designed to provide local citizens with immediate information and warnings about storms, floods and tsunamis, water contamination alerts, missing persons reports, road closures and other events. In the event of these or other scenarios, ClatsopALERTS! will send out recorded voice or text message alerts to home phones, cell phones, pagers and/or email.Sign up for free and select your preferred alert method on Clatsop County's website HERE.


The Federal Emergency Management app is a useful tool before and after an emergency.  Through this app you can receive real-time alerts from the National Weather Service for up to five locations nationwide, share real-time notifications with loved ones via text, email and social media, learn emergency safety tips for over 20 types of disasters, including fires, flooding, hurricanes, snowstorms, tornadoes, volcanoes and more.  You can locate open emergency shelters and disaster recovery centers in your area where you can talk to a FEMA representative in person, prepare for diasters with a customizable emergency kit checklist, emergency family plan, and reminders.  You'll be able to connect with FEMA to register for disaster assistance online.  Find the link HERE.  Watch the 30 second video HERE.
