Water Main Flushing

Seaside, Ore. - January 10, 2022 -The City of Seaside Water Department will conduct fire hydrant testing and flushing starting Tuesday January 18, 2022. 

Water main flushing involves routine testing, maintenance, and inspection of the Seaside fire hydrant system. Flushing the fire hydrants helps maintain water quality and system reliability. 

Hydrants located in the neighborhoods east of Hwy 101 will be flushed between the hours of 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM starting on January 17, 2022 and flushing will continue through January 28, 2022. The flushing is necessary to maintain high water quality in the distribution system and to test fire hydrants for proper function. During this time, water customers may experience a slight discoloration of their tap water, which should subside. 

Should you experience discolored water, you can flush your service by allowing your cold water only to flow for a short duration of 5 to 10 minutes.  Although we hope to keep these occurrences to a minimum, they are unavoidable. If the problem persists, please call Mike Dimmick at 503-738-5113 during normal business hours.
