South Korean Delegation to Visit Seaside and Perform

Public invited to Korean traditional music and martial arts concert.

SEASIDE, Ore. – July 10, 2023 – A delegation from Chungju, South Korea, will be in Seaside on Monday, July 31 to conduct a joint meeting with the Seaside City Council and perform at Quatat Park. The South Korean delegation, which will stay in Seaside overnight, includes Chungju city councilors, city hall staff, creators, musicians, performers and translators.

The joint Seaside/Chungju City Council meeting will take place at Seaside Civic & Convention Center from 4 to 5 p.m. and consist of remarks by both councils, informal presentations on each city, and a question-and-answer session. An onsite dinner will follow.

At 6 p.m., the public is invited to a Korean traditional music and martial arts concert at Quatat Park. The Chungju Municipal Taekkyeon Team will perform alongside the Chungju Municipal Ureuk Orchestra. Taekkyeon is a Korean martial art that traces its ancient roots to Chungju.

A crew from South Korea’s MBC-TV will film the meetings and performances in Seaside for broadcast overseas. Chungju is a city of more than 200,000 located in the center of the Korean peninsula and an important historical, cultural and tourism hub for the region.
