King Tide Season Continues in January and February

King Tides are the highest tides of the year. During these periods when the moon is closest to the Earth, wave action can reach impressive highs and lows. While King Tides are a magnificent natural occurrence, the large volume of water they bring can be perilous. It is not recommended to walk on the beach during King Tides. Observe from a safe distance, such as behind the guardrail of a coastal overlook or from the famous Seaside Promenade, which was built in 1921 as a seawall. You might spot the Seaside Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) on the Prom, sharing king tide science and suggesting the best locations to watch the tidal wave action. They'll also be able to answer any questions you may have.
