Update: Death Deemed Homicide

SEASIDE, Ore. – February 25, 2023 – The investigation into the death of Anna Knutson, 62, of Seaside continues. The Oregon State Medical Examiner’s office completed an autopsy, which determined the death to be a homicide.

Knutson’s body was located inside a residence at 2338 S. Edgewood at approximately 10:10 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2023. Based on the continuing investigation, there appears to be no ongoing threat to the community.

The Clatsop County Major Crime Team has been leading the investigation, including agency detectives from the Seaside, Astoria, and Cannon Beach police departments, detectives and medicolegal death investigator from the Clatsop County Sheriff’s Office, attorneys and victims assistance from the Clatsop County District Attorney’s Office, and the Oregon State Police Forensic Services Division.

Investigators ask anyone who has had recent contact with Knutson to contact Detective Crowe of the Seaside Police Department at (503) 738-6311.

Police Investigate Suspicious Death

SEASIDE, Ore. – February 23, 2023 – The Seaside Police Department received a report of a possible missing person – Anna Knutson, 62, of Seaside -  at approximately 7:50 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2023. Officers spoke with a roommate at Knutson’s residence who reported not seeing her for a couple days which, they said, was not normal.

Information obtained from the roommate and Knutson’s family members led officers to a Seaside residence where Knutson worked as a housekeeper. Upon arrival, officers were unable to make contact with anyone initially and later gained entry with the assistance of the homeowner.

Officers entered the residence and found Knutson deceased. The death is under investigation and an autopsy to determine cause and manner of death is scheduled within days.
